The 43rd WorldSkills Brazil knowing as “Skill Olympics” was held in Sao Paulo from 11st to 16th August , 2015. 1192 competitors from the member countries and areas of WorldSkills Organization conducted fierce competition on 50 programs. Dr. Liu Zhenying, the president of Beijing Arc Science & Technology Co,. Ltd. attended the event on invitation. 32 competitors of Chinese representative team participated in 29 programs and achieved 4 golden medals, 6 silver medals, 3 bronze medals and 12 winning prizes. The golden medals of car painting, welding, hairdressing and manufacturing team challenge programs marked a historical breakthrough. It was the third times for Chinese representatives to participate in the competition since 2011. Meanwhile, it was also the first time for Chinese representative team to win the golden model.
The WorldSkills Competition is held every two years with 65 years’ history. It is the vocational skills competition with the highest position, largest scale and most extensive influence. Its competitiveness represents the world level of vocational skills development in each area. And it is also an important platform for demonstrating and exchanging vocational skills among countries.

The 43rd WorldSkills Competition was closed on the evening of 16th August, 2015 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. After four days’ marathon competition, Chinese representative team realized a zero breakthrough of golden medal in WorldSkills. Zeng Zhengchao won the golden medal on welding program, Yu Hailong and other two members together won the golden medal on manufacturing team challenge, Yang Jinlong won the golden medal on car painting program, and Nie Feng won the golden medal on hairdressing program. Zeng Zhengchao, Yu Hailong, Lin Chunlong, Zhong Shixiong, Nie Feng and Yang Jinlong raised the bright five-star flag on the podium in the San Paulo WorldSkills Competition. They realized the wonderful golden medal leap for Chinese representative team in WorldSkills with perfect performance. These golden medals marked China’s transformation from large manufacturing country to powerful manufacturing country.

It was not incidental for Chinese representatives to win the golden medals, which was correlated to their daily strict training and good psychological quality. For example, the golden medal road for Zeng Zhengchao, a young advanced welding technician in the Industrial Construction Branch Office of China 19th Metallurgical Corporation was very hard and difficult. When rolling up the sleeves, the reporter noticed that there were lots of big or small scars on his arms caused by welding sparks. Each scar witnessed the progress and growth of Zeng Zhengchao. He said “I must bear all the pain, because even the slightly shaking hand can affect the welding quality”. Within two years’ accumulation, Zeng Zhengchao finally surprised the world from failing in the 42th WorldSkills Competition China Selection Trial to become the first-choice player of the 43th WorldSkills Welding Program. All the judges evaluated Zeng Zhengchao’s work as perfect and impeccable after seeing his welding product. In addition, the medalist of manufacturing team challenge Yu Hailong, Lin Chunlong and Zhong Shixiong, hairdressing program medalist Nie Feng and car painting program medalist Yang Jinlong all paid a lot of sweat for the glory on the podium.

Dr. Liu Zhenying considered that the excellent performance and results of the competition representing the highest level of world skills indicated that China, as a large country in economy and industry, has achieved remarkable achievements in recent years’ economy development. At the same time, Dr. Liu Zhenying also wished that the Chinese representative team could achieve better results in the 44th WorldSkills Competition in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
