The first round of Review Meeting for 2018 Belt&Road and BRICSSkills Development & Technology Innovation Competition was held on November 28, 2017. Dr. Liu Zhenying, Chairman of BRICS Business Council SDWG, attended the meeting and delivered a report on Belt&Road and BRICS Skills Development & Technology Innovation Competition. In addition, experts from different modules of2017 BRICS Skills Development & Technology Innovation Competition were invited to attend the meeting as members of the judging panel.

During the meeting, the Organizing Committee reviewed the wonderful video of 2017 BRICS Skills Development & Technology Innovation Competition. Representatives from each module shared the successful experiences. 2017 BRICS Skills Development & Technology Innovation Competition consists of five competitions, which are BRICS Maker Competition, Machinery & Electricity Skills Competition, 3D Printing and Intelligent Manufacturing Competition, China Intelligent Manufacturing Challenge and IIW·CWS·Arc Cup 2017 International Welding Competition. The first BRICS Skills Development & Technology Innovation Competition attracted more than 4,500 people in total from the BRICS countries to participate in the BRICS series activities.

The declaration of the first round of 2018 Belt & Road and BRICS Skills Development & Technology Innovation Competition was started in mid-November with a total of more than 50 representatives from schools and enterprises participating in the meeting. The competition focuses on advanced manufacturing and intelligent manufacturing. The main competition projects include Digital Skills such as Cyber Security, Internet of Things, Data Analytics, and Fiber Optics Line Installation and Service; Manufacturing and Engineering such as Polymechanics &Automation, Industrial Control, CNC Turning and CNC Milling, Composite Technologies, Industrial Robotics, Welding, Sheet Metal Technology, CNC Multi-Axis Machining, 3D, Machinary &Electricity and Intelligent Manufacturing; and Transportation such as Aircraft Maintenance, Industrial Assembling of Aircraft Items, etc.
On the meetings of Skills Development Working Group of the BRICS Business Council on August 31, 2017 in Shanghai and October 18, 2017 in Abu Dhabi, BRICS SDWGs representatives discussed and confirmed that South Africa will hold the second BRICS Skills Development & Technology Innovation Competition as the rotating presidency in 2018. The Competition will be held in three divisions: Main Division in South Africa, Sub-Division in China and Sub-Division in Russia. China Section of BRICS Business Council and itsSDWG and International Alliance of Skills Development (IASDBR) will together hold China Selective Competition and China Division Competition for 2018 Belt & Road and BRICS Skills Development & Technology Innovation Competition.
